Stay safe as restrictions are eased

While we’re still dealing with the impact of Covid-19, many of the restrictions imposed by law will be lifted from Monday 19th July.

We’re expecting to see even more passengers choosing to travel by bus, and there will be more seats available on our buses now too.

All seats are now available for use, and you can also choose to stand – just be mindful of keeping the aisle clear so other passengers can get on and off the bus easily.

We’re going to continue our enhanced cleaning, using an innovative anti-microbial surface treatment that will work to kill a range of viruses for up to 30 days. There’s also going to be hand sanitiser on board all our buses in case you forget yours.

Here are some tips to help all passengers travel safely and happily.

Before your journey

As people can now come together in larger numbers, we are expecting our buses to get busier. If you are anxious about travelling on a busier service, you could:

  • Avoid peak times. Our buses are busiest 7am-9am and 3pm-5pm Monday to Friday.
  • Use our App to plan your journey and see how busy the bus is likely to be.
  • Buy your ticket via the App or use contactless payment

On the bus

  • Covid screens will still be in place between drivers and passengers, and there are guides showing you where to stand.
  • Pay by contactless when you can. The contactless limit is now £45, which covers all the ticket types you can buy on board.
  • Please be patient while getting on and off and do not queue in the aisle or next to the driver.
  • Government advice is to wear a face covering in crowded places, which could include public transport. Please respect those who want to continue to wear a face covering and those who choose not to.
  • Continue to wash your hands and/or use hand sanitiser regularly – there will still be hand sanitiser on every bus in case you forget your own.
  • Our drivers will be monitoring the number of passengers on every bus to ensure they remain within safe limits.

Extra points to remember

  • While wearing a face covering is now down to individual choice, the government advice is to wear one in crowded areas.
  • Please open windows to help with ventilation.
  • Our drivers are there to help – if you need extra assistance, please ask.
  • If you feel the bus is too crowded, ring the bell and you will be able to get off at the next stop.
  • Please take any newspapers or rubbish with you to dispose of safely.
