Festive Success for the Santa Bus

Festive Success as Plymouth Citybus and Go Cornwall Bus Spread Christmas Cheer for Charity.
This Christmas, Plymouth Citybus and Go Cornwall Bus brought joy, laughter, and charitable giving to the communities of Plymouth and Cornwall. The Santa Bus, now in its fourth year, made its way through the streets of Plymouth and Cornwall throughout December, spreading Christmas spirit and raising funds for two worthy causes - Lunas Fund in Cornwall and The Primrose Foundation in Plymouth.
We have now collated all the money raised and we’re pleased to say that the Santa bus has successfully raised a total of £2,039.34.
The total sum will be split equally between our two chosen charities – The Primrose Foundation in Plymouth and Luna’s Fund in Cornwall.
The Primrose Foundation is a local Plymouth charity, dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by breast cancer, providing vital assistance and fostering a sense of community resilience.
Madeleine Matthews, Fundraising Coordinator at The Primrose Foundation said, “The Primrose Foundation would like to thank Plymouth Citybus and everyone involved in making the Santa bus that travelled around Plymouth & surrounding areas throughout December a huge success. We would also like to thank the many families that donated to our charity. Donations like this make a huge difference and we are, as always, extremely thankful for everyone’s kindness and support.”
Lunas Fund is a charity that offers practical and emotional support to bereaved parents and expectant parents in Devon and Cornwall upon the loss of their baby.
Aimee Conroy, CEO of Luna’s Fund commented, “On behalf of the Trustees and all of the families we support, thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.
The Santa bus was a magical event designed to bring joy to families for free in the lead up to Christmas. We received wonderful feedback from our supporters throughout Cornwall and Devon. Luna’s four-year-old little brother loved his first experience of the Santa Bus and seeing his sisters name on it. It was a proud and special full circle moment for us as a family.
This wouldn’t have been possible without the unique opportunity and backing from Plymouth Citybus and Go Cornwall Bus. Not only have they chosen us as one of their Santa Bus charities, they have helped us with an amazing awareness campaign by sharing 50 babies names in their buses last year.
They have been extremely supportive to their colleague who is the angel dad of baby Logan. We have had the pleasure of supporting Logan’s parents during his loss and throughout their pregnancy after loss where they have welcomed Logan’s baby brother Jaxon.
The funds raised will be used towards our relaxing getaway service for parents in February. An opportunity for them to escape to either a hotel or a log cabin for 2-3 nights, free of charge to reconnect and to reflect away from their harsh reality.
Thank you so much for your kindness and for allowing us to do what we do best.”
Here at Plymouth Citybus and Go Cornwall Bus, we are immensely grateful to everyone who contributed to our festive fundraising initiative. The generosity and kindness displayed by our passengers and the wider community have made a significant impact on the lives of those supported by Lunas Fund and The Primrose Foundation.
Mark Collins, Commercial Director for Plymouth Citybus and Go Cornwall Bus, expressed his gratitude, saying, "The Santa Bus has been a highlight of the season for us, and we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our passengers and the community. It warms our hearts to know that, together, we have made a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most."
As we bid farewell to the Santa Bus for this year, Plymouth Citybus and Go Cornwall Bus look forward to bringing the Santa Bus back out for Christmas 2024 to bring joy, support, and a touch of magic to our communities.
